My kitten has a hurt paw and is shaking. What can I do to help?

Since he's so young the leg may heal fine on its own. As long as he's eating let him rest and give him a day or two to get better. If he stops eating or the shaking and tremors worsen please take him in for an exam. There is no safe. human pain medication for cats or kittens. Hopefully he'll improve. Without seeing him in person, I can’t say exactly what is wrong with his paw, but it may be he injured it, has a broken bone in it, or a foreign body. The fact that he screams whenever you touch it tells me he is in a lot of pain, and unfortunately there are no OTC pain medications you can give him. Many human ones are toxi to cats, and are fatal if given. You don’t have a choice but to take him into a vet. If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Nibbles is so cute! There could be a few causes for the symptoms you describe - migration of internal parasites, viral infections, injury. I strongly recommend having her examined by your vet to try to determine why her leg is painful, and why she is shivering. I hope this helps.

Poor guy. It seems he likely injured the paw again. If it hurts this bad, then I worry about a fracture as well. I would recommend not touching the area and getting him to your local vet as soon as you can. If you cannot tonight, then taking him to any vet that is open tomorrow morning (after hours clincis likely are) would be the best thing to do for Pooh Bear. You may want to investigate the home to hopefully find out where he is likely getting his injuries from. If he is an outdoor/indoor cat, then its best to have him neutered and/or kept indoors to help avoid further injuries. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. So sorry to hear this happened to Givenchy. You really need to get her to a vet for an examination. She could have fractured/broken the leg, dislocated it or even avulsed the brachial plexus (bundle of nerves in the armpit). These are not things you are going to fix at home. I'm sure she is in a lot of pain and getting some pain medication from the vet would be a nice thing to do for her too. Please get her to the vet. It doesn't sound like a simple sprain. You can cold compress it if she will allow you to but that won't take the place of a vet exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Ouch, poor Tiger. Rest him today as much as possible. No running, jumping, or playing. Keep him indoors if he's allowed outside. If he still appears painful the morning, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cats and are be fatal if given.

Unfortunately, I can't really tell what the abnormality is by looking at these pictures. Kulit needs to see a vet, as shivering is a sign of pain. She may have sustained a fracture (break) or other trauma to the leg. Please have her seen immediately.
