My young kitten is limping with a bump on her arm. Is it broken?

It could be that Ballora has injured herself causing her to limp. She is showing you she is in pain by limping and not putting much weight on the leg. I would rest her for the next 24 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Keep her confined to a small room or a large crate (with food, water, and litter box in it) to restrict her movement. If after this time she is still limping, take her into a vet asap. The vet can diagnose what is causing her pain, and can treat her for it. The vet can also prescribe pain medication for her. Please do not give her any human pain medications, many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Oh no, poor Belis! It is certainly possible that her leg is broken, but it could also be sprained or infected from an animal bite if she's allowed outside. She has to see a vet for this, so I would bring her into one right away. Given that it's really swollen and she's been walking around with a limp limb for three to four days, medical attention is required now. Please bring her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

It could be soft tissue damage from an injury causing limping but it could also be a result of an orthopedic issue. Kittens can also get viral infections like calicivirus that can cause limping. I'd recommend keeping Binks quiet by confining her to a small area and not allowing her to run, jump, or use stairs. If she continues to limp or any other abnormal signs develop she should be examined by a veterinarian as she may need X-rays or pain medication. Swelling like this can happen with muscle injury, bruising under the skin, or with fractures. The severity of the injury is generally related to how much she is limping. If she is not using the leg, then I would be worried about a fracture and/or nerve injury. This would require a visit to a veterinarian within 24 hours. If she just has a slight lump, then it's likely just soft tissue swelling. In this case, it would still be best to have a vet evaluate her, but is not as urgent. Since he's so young the leg may heal fine on its own. As long as he's eating let him rest and give him a day or two to get better. If he stops eating or the shaking and tremors worsen please take him in for an exam. There is no safe. human pain medication for cats or kittens. Hopefully he'll improve. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian so that this can be further assessed which will likely include radiographs. Have her examined by your veterinarian today. She may have injured the foot or been bitten during her absence. Antibiotics and/or pain medication may be indicated. Do not medicate her with any OTC products as most can be toxic to cats. Restrict her activity as much as possible until she sees the doctor.
