My kittens are getting spayed. When to fast & separate them?

Since they must be separated to prevent any unwanted letters, you're just going to have to keep them in separate rooms with separate litter boxes, food bowls, toys etc. if they seem stressed out you can try a Feliway diffuser which may help to calm them as well as give them each plenty of love and playtime. You can get Sugar spayed even though her kitten still tries to nurse. It's fine. When she is recovering, you should keep her in a large crate or a small room by herself to limit movement and allow healing, and that hopefully should break the habit of the kitten nursing. She will need to be alone for two weeks.

The best thing you can do is make sure she is not over weight. Also, when she is spayed, she will need to be separated from any kittens so that they do not injure the incision. I recommend to discuss your concerns with your veterinarian. Things that help a procedure recover if an emergency arises are to make sure bloodwork is done prior to the surgery, that she has an intravenous catheter placed prior to the procedure and that she receives intravenous fluids during the procedure. These will help to keep her safe. Just like human medicine, all sedative procedures have some risk but the vast vast majority of people and pets will do fine. You may consider interviewing a few veterinarians to ask about their protocols and safety record. It's always be to be informed. The goal is no running, jumping or playing until this time. This is difficult with young kittens however. So do your best to limit her activities. It is fine if she sleeps with you at night if this is what she usually does. I would keep the bedroom door closed so that if she jumps off the bed, she is at least confined to the room. The surgery can make her slightly more prone to weight gain so watch her calorie intake. This is a greater problem in adult cats though. The surgery should not cause any behavioral changes. Sometimes when cats wake up from surgery, they are very disoriented, and they can stumble around the cage. She could have accidentally hurt herself waking up from anesthesia. Without being there or seeing her in person, I can't say for certain, but I would give your vet a call to ask if they know why these bald spots have appeared. I would monitor her eye. Given that she is recovering from anesthesia, her behavior may be off. If she is still having problems with squinting in 48 hours, I would have her seen by a vet. It's better to wait until evening to feed her, as feeding her too soon after surgery and anesthesia may upset her stomach. I would follow the instructions from your vet.

I would just make sure you fast him for the procedure. Pick up any food after 10pm on Friday night. Male cats do typically well and they usually do fine.
