My 5-month-old kitten fell. She's not eating. What should I do?

Oh dear, poor Meow! Since she is not moving, eating or drinking, my main concern is that she has experienced significant trauma in her travels, either from a long fall or being hit by a car. These traumatic events can cause major head trauma, rib fractures, or internal injuries that can be quite severe and painful. I would have Miss Kitty seen by a vet now. Young kittens are very fragile, and and I'm concerned that she took a hard fall and now just wants to be sleep. She needs to be checked out to be safe. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. Inappetence is a quite generic but concerning sign. Differentials are many, but usually gastrointestinal lesions and pain/discomfort could be fairly common in traumatic cases. The approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food. A check up is needed if inappetence last for more than 24hours (In my view 48 hours of starvation is too long). I'm sorry that Lilly isn't her normal self lately! You are correct that if she fell hard, that could be the reason why she isn't as active lately. She could be painful, even though she is still running and walking normally as cats can be good at hiding their pain. Lethargy can also be caused by a medical problem, such as systemic illness, infection, or inflammation. Given this has been going on for a week now, I'd recommend having Lilly seen by a vet for a health check. It's also way good to have a cat checked out by a vet when they are acting differently than normal. The vet can let you know if she is in pain or if there is a medical cause behind her change in behavior, and how best to treat it. Take your kitten to a veterinarian as soon as posdible in the event of trauma like this. Many things can happen including broken bones, damage to the lungs, lacerated organs, etc. Many times they fall on their faces and have facial or jaw fractures. A full exam will be performed and xrays will likely be recommended. Hopefully your kitten is okay and some pain medication can be prescribed. Since Coco got her vaccinations a week ago they are probably not the cause of her symptoms. I would be concerned about an injury or wound in the front paw that she is favoring. Oftentimes when a cat is ill or injured, or just not feeling well in general, they will stop eating and become lethargic. If this behavior continues for more than 24 hours then I would recommend taking her in to your vet to be checked out.

Unfortunately no, there is nothing you can do without taking her to a vet. She sounds quite ill, and she truly has to have veterinary care; in fact, I would consider her current symptoms a medical emergency. She sounds very weak and she's likely starving, and she needs veterinary care now if you want to help her. Please take her into a vet right away.
