My kitten ate bacon grease. Will he be okay? What symptoms to watch?

If she is otherwise acting ok then you could withhold food for the rest of the day and offer her a small amount of a bland diet tonight. You could buy a gastrointestinal diet or try a small amount of boiled chicken. If the diarrhea persists, she starts vomiting, or becomes lethargic then she needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. Hope she feels better soon.

I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian to assess how dehydrated he is and so that the veterinarian can help determine what the problem is. Frollo may need anti-vomiting / nausea medications to prevent him from continuing to vomit. If he does not improve with veterinary care, then the next step would be abdominal x-rays or an ultrasound to make sure that there is no GI foreign body obstruction or other cause. Most likely she will have several bouts of diarrhea and perhaps some vomiting. The butter will create a sort of slip-n-slide and cause loss of fluid so it is important to give her small amounts of Pedialyte (if diarrhea or vomiting do occur) to prevent dehydration. Also a bland diet of tuna and rice can be given to help her stomach settle. She should slowly improve over the next few days as the butter exits her system.

As long as she is bright, has normal energy level, has good appetite and is passing normal stools, she should be fine. However, if you notice any of the worrying symptoms, you should get her checked by your local vets in the morning.

Poor Leo! He could have a GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Naughty Copper! I'm sure he enjoyed it :) Bacon contains a lot of fat, so I would expect that he may have some mild stomach upset for the next day or so. There is a chance that he could develop a more serious problem called pancreatitis from eating so much bacon - if this happens, you will see symptoms such as repeated episodes of vomiting, lethargy, loss of appetite, and sometimes bloody diarrhea. If any of these signs are seen, then you will need to take him to the vet right away for treatment.
