My cat ate hamburger grease and hasn't eaten in 48 hours. What to do?

If a veterinary consultation is not an option,as a first line treatment, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Gastrointestinal inflammation/infection and pancreatitis are on top of the list of differential diagnosis in Gandalph's case. I would recommend having her seen by a vet and have an x-ray done. She could just have a gastritis or a sore upset stomach, however not eating for 6 days for a cat is a concern. Your vet may also check Snowball's liver values for a disease called 'fatty liver'. Best of luck with Snowball.

If he was recently at the vet for vomiting, and now is not eating or drinking anything, he should be seen again as this would make me concerned about the possibility of a foreign body, or pancreatitis, which would require additional therapy. If your vet didn't do x-rays or bloodwork at the previous appointment it's time to make sure there's nothing more serious going on. However, since your vet just saw Iron I would start by giving them a call with an update, in case they have other input based on their exam findings. Hope this helps and he feels better soon!

Aw poor Simba! I'm sorry to hear he's sick! It would be a good idea to have him checked out by a veterinarian to ensure he does not have an intestinal obstruction, infection, or other cause of vomiting and decreased appetite. He may need injections to stop his vomitng and fluids to rehydrate him. I'm concerned that 4 days of not eating can cause serious illness in a cat so the sooner he sees a veterinarian the better. Cats cannot go more than a few days without eating. They will start by doing a physical exam and will likely recommend lab work to see how her organs are functioning and the status of her red and white blood cells. They may also run a thyroid test to determine if it’s over-active. The vet may need to take radiographs of her abdomen to rule out a foreign object or other abnormalities.
