Is Easy Spot with Fipronil safe for my 14-pound cat's ear mites?

If your vet gave you the ear drops for the mites then I would follow their instructions. If a vet didn't give you the ear drops, do not use them. Pyrethrins are toxic to cats. Do not use any shampoo on a cat that doesn't say specifically on the label that it can be used in cats. Frontline is safe in cats but I would suggest using revolution since Revolution gets ear mites. Hello. There is nothing in the product label that indicates use for ear mites, but often this is just not tested for. In terms of flea life cycle, only the adult flea is affected. If the flea lays eggs on your pet prior to dying from the insecticide ( unlikely since a flea needs a blood meal to lay eggs ), theoretically those eggs will hatch on the ground. Flea eggs do not hatch on the pet. Some flea products do contain insect growth regulators that prevent hatching or flea development, but Activyl does not make this claim. This would depend on the medication. Many treatments for ear mites are topical medications that should be given in the ear. If she is on a topical flea and tick medication like Revolution for ear mites you could contact the company to see if there are any concerns about accidental exposure to the ear. Most topical medications shouldn't be too much of a concern either.

You can buy Frontline spray and wipe your kitten with this. Wet a q-tip with the spray and just gently insert it into the kittens ear to wet the ear canal. Do not push it hard, do not twist it and do not try to clean the ear. If this does not work within the next few days, you will need to take your kitten to a vet for ear cleaning and treatment.

Veterinary formula flea and tick shampoo cannot be used on pregnant cats, so do not use it. I would use either Advantage or Revolution, both are safe to use on pregnant cats. The home spray is fine, but do not allow Sophie in the room where you use it until it's completely dry. Have her seen by a vet to diagnose what is causing the debris in her ears, which could be due to yeast, bacteria, or ear mites. I hope this helps!

Etofenprox is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide, and cats are quiet sensitive to pyrethroids. I do not recommend using pyrethroid medications to my clients due to the risk for toxicity. The dog product may have a higher concentration and be more likely to cause toxicity. Affected cats will have involuntary muscle tremors or seizure activity. You could bathe both cats with Dawn dish soap to remove any remaining topical medication and contact a veterinarian immediately if you see any signs. This product is labeled for use in cats and dogs. It should be fine to use unless Ewin has a sensitivity to any of the ingredients. You can dab a drop on the ear and monitor for redness or itching. If nothing appears after an hour or so, you can proceed to clean the ears.
