Is Biospot for dogs safe for cats? My cat got dog flea medicine.

Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea treatments, so there is a potential this could cause problems in Monty. I would wash him off thoroughly with warm water and Dawn dish soap. Watch him for signs of toxicity which include excessive salivation, paw flicking, ear twitching, vomiting, diarrhea, depression, incoordination, and muscle tremors. If you see any of those, rush Monty into a vet immediately.

In general, products that are labeled for cats are usually quite safe for dogs, as cats are much more sensitive to chemicals overall. As long as Duchess is in the same general weight range as your cat, I would not expect this to cause any problems. If she is acting normal, it should be okay to just monitor her at home. Possible signs of toxicity would include muscle tremors, lethargy, or seizures. If you see anything that concerns you, it's always an option to see an emergency vet to be safe.

I worry about this product, because it contains a pesticide that can be toxic if used in too high of a concentration. However, the way this is meant to be used is more like a bathing product. It should be diluted per the manufacturer's directions and then the cats should be bathed per the directions. After the bath, the solution should be thoroughly rinsed and is not meant to stay on the skin, so there should be no concern of them licking it. I prefer other products for controlling fleas though, because this one would have to be repeated. Other products like spot-ons (i.e. Frontline, Revolution) or tablets (i.e. capstar) will control the fleas for an entire month. Treating for fleas is not just restricted to the host, because fleas can reproduce and nest in the environment and continually cause an issue. As long as it is a cat approved product and not a dog product an the wright ranges are correct then it is fine to use. A small amount of cats have an allergic reaction to any topical product where there can be hair loss at the application site but if this has never happened before then it is unlikely to happen now

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Eli is super cute! The soonest you can reapply the Spot On is 3 weeks. As for mixing drugs I would need to know what oral flea pill you want to give. Ideally if Eli is flea allergic she should get flea medications every month year round. Personally I see a lot of flea resistance with the Fipronil Spot On. I recommend Bravecto (topical), Comfortis (oral) or the Seresto collar for cats. I wish Eli a speedy recovery!

I would recommend using caution if the flea/tick shampoo and the topical product both contain permethrins, particularly if you have a small dog. I recommend avoiding all over the counter products containing permethrins for cats since they are prone to toxicity. If you use a flea/tick shampoo with permethrin and a topical product that has a different active ingredient it should be safer. An even safer alternative would be to use blue Dawn dishsoap for bathing, followed by flea combing and then applying a topical product.

No this is absolutely not recommended, first of all you can overdose her, secondly i generally do not recommend flea baths for cats, they are less effective and tend to cause severe side effects.
