My dog ate blueberry kefir with grape juice. Will he be okay?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I'm in a panic! I sometimes give Noxie Kefir. It's 99% lactose free, so I thought he was fine drinking it. Then tonight I read that they use grape juice to color the blueberry flavor!!! Was I poisoning my boy? I never expected it would contain juice!

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

I think Noxie will be fine. I have never heard of a cat or dog experiencing a toxicity from grape juice. Though I guess it could be possible. But with the small amount likely in the Kefir and the only occasional times you give it I am sure that Noxie will be fine. Obviously I would stop giving her this form of Kefir and stick with the non-fruit flavors if you continue to give it.

I hope this helps!
