My French Bulldog puppy ate PB&J with grape jelly. Is it toxic?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female

So my french bulldog, about 4 months just had a bit of my pb&j sandwich. About a half a tablespoon. I read online that grape jelly can kill her! Will she be okay??? She seems fine.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. While many grape jams / jellies are filled with primarily sugar and flavoring, some of these products do contain real grapes, which can be quite toxic to dogs if ingested. Stella will likely be fine, especially if she is acting completely normal. However, to establish a baseline, you can always take her to the veterinarian for an examination and have her blood tested to make sure her kidney values are not affected. This will help establish a baseline for the blood values in the event she does develop clinical symptoms. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
