My French Bulldog puppy ate PB&J with grape jelly. Is it toxic?

So my french bulldog, about 4 months just had a bit of my pb&j sandwich. About a half a tablespoon. I read online that grape jelly can kill her! Will she be okay??? She seems fine.

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. While many grape jams / jellies are filled with primarily sugar and flavoring, some of these products do contain real grapes, which can be quite toxic to dogs if ingested. Stella will likely be fine, especially if she is acting completely normal. However, to establish a baseline, you can always take her to the veterinarian for an examination and have her blood tested to make sure her kidney values are not affected. This will help establish a baseline for the blood values in the event she does develop clinical symptoms. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Grape jelly doesn't actually have a lot of grapes in it, but it does have a lot of sugar. You may see some GI upset in Mopsy (such as vomiting), and if you do, I would recommend withholding food and then feeding a bland diet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

The good news is there are no ingredients that are toxic, so you don't have to do anything for him. At most, you may see some stomach upset in the form of diarrhea, vomiting, lethargy, and loss of appetite. If you do see those signs, then have him seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

Every dog is different and 1 grape could be toxic to one dog and it could take 100 grapes to cause toxicity to the next. I recommend calling your vet for options to decontaminate Poppy. My dog ate blueberry kefir with grape juice. Will he be okay?

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think Noxie will be fine. I have never heard of a cat or dog experiencing a toxicity from grape juice. Though I guess it could be possible. But with the small amount likely in the Kefir and the only occasional times you give it I am sure that Noxie will be fine. Obviously I would stop giving her this form of Kefir and stick with the non-fruit flavors if you continue to give it. I hope this helps!

My dog ate a spoonful of blackcurrant jam. Should I be worried?

Unfortunately the toxicity from currants (as well as raisins) is not necessarily dose-dependent, and symptoms can occur with even small ingestions. Decontamination (e.g., inducing vomiting, decontaminating with activated charcoal, etc.), aggressive supportive care, aggressive IV fluid therapy, and kidney function (e.g., BUN/creatinine) monitoring is usually recommended. To be on the safe side I would recommend to have coco checked by your local vet.
