How should I safely cook and prepare mutton for my cat to eat?

People food is just that – food for people. Cats are obligate carnivores, and as such, have a delicate balance of protein, carbohydrates, fat, and vitamins and minerals that must be maintained. Cats should eat a balanced high quality diet in order to meet all of their nutritional needs. Unbalanced diets with vitamin/mineral imbalances risk a variety of health problems. Home cooked diets are not as commonly recommended, but are preferred by some cats and pet owners. If you opt to go down this road, a carefully crafted recipe by a specialist in veterinary nutrition should be used with proper vitamin and mineral supplementation. Even with a commercial diet, occasional treats of boiled white meat chicken, turkey, salmon, or tuna can be perfectly fine in small quantities.

It has nothing to do with hormones, these hormones are also present in cat food you can be sure of that. the problem with home made food, it's difficult to make it balanced enough for your cat, this is why a commercial diet is usually better.

Fully-cooked pork should be fine to give in moderation as a treat and with any fat cut off and bones removed. However, as with any people food, it is best to only give it as a treat and feed your cat a regular balanced diet for her meals.

Hi Jamie, There are a lot of people who advocate for a raw food diet, but you are right that there are a lot of risk factors. There is not a medical benefit to feeding raw food over cooked food. I think a balanced homemade (cooked) or canned food diet are the safest for cats. Making a homemade diet and keeping it balanced can be quite a bit of work, so I currently feed my cats canned. Feeding meat by itself lacks a large amount of essential vitamins, minerals, and balance of nutrients that cats need (especially kittens) and require every day. I would stick to the cat food formulations instead and a tiny bit of meat can be given as a treat every so often.

Yes you cann feed your puppy mutton, chicken and fish. Do not feed fish exclusively, and make sure you cook all the meat and fish. You should also add veggies and rice. Best is a commercially produced puppy food, but seeing that you live in India, you might not be able to get such food. If you live in a larger city, there will likely be a veterinary doctor who sells puppy food.

The main source of nutrition for your kittens should be kitten food, but a small amount of beef is unlikely to cause any harm. If you note any vomiting or diarrhea after offering beef then I wouldn't offer any in the future. Cute kittens! Good luck with them!
