Tears typically cause changes to the color of the hair. Keeping the area clean and making sure you clean off areas of accumulation from the tears should help. Angel's Eyes is a supplement that may help reduce this staining.

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can use a warm wet wash cloth with a small amount of dish soap or pet shampoo on it and gently wash Ozzy's head and rinse off with clean warm water being careful around the eyes. I hope this helps!

You can give her a bath at any time! A soothing shampoo with aloe or oatmeal can help keep her skin from becoming too dry. If she doesn't like the bath, you can also use pet or baby wipes to wipe down any very dirty areas, or even a wet washcloth with a little waterless shampoo sprayed onto it.

Hello. This is totally facial staining seen in white/light colored kittens from nursing their mothers. It is not uncommon to see this type staining on the nipples of white nursing queens, & it often is seen on the kittens faces as well. Try bathing him in a gentle pet or baby shampoo, but make sure to dry him well after his bath so that he does not get too cold. Also wash all of his bedding well because he likely transferred the odor by contact.

Due to the Persian being a brachycephalic breed ("smoosh-face"), it is not uncommon for them to develop brown discoloration or crusting in the facial fold above their nose. The most important part of the daily routine for Billu is to clean the facial fold. This can be done by using a warm, moist cloth to remove debris build-up. If the area ever appears red, painful, or has a discharge or odor then it could possibly be infected. When this occurs it is best to have them evaluated by a veterinarian so that a medicated cleansing wipe can be prescribed to help decrease the occurrence in the future.

I generally do not recommend bathing cats at all, if you have some dirt spot issues you can use baby wipes with a tiny amount of peroxide, it will almost always do the job. The shampoo itself is safe, but again, if you ask me- don't do it. and it you chose to do it, definitely do not do it regularly.
