My white Persian kitten gets dirty. How often can I safely bathe him?

I have a 2 month 25 days old white Persian kitten. Even though he is an indoor cat his fur gets dirty very easily due to its white colour. I got Beaphar macadamia cat shampoo for him. Is it a safe one and how often can I bathe him??

I generally do not recommend bathing cats at all, if you have some dirt spot issues you can use baby wipes with a tiny amount of peroxide, it will almost always do the job.

The shampoo itself is safe, but again, if you ask me- don't do it. and it you chose to do it, definitely do not do it regularly.

I would not recommend giving a cat a bath more often than every 4-6 weeks at a time with a sensitive feline shampoo. You run the risk of disrupting the normal flora on the skin and causing unnecessary dryness. If Smoky is going to be an outdoor cat, understandably they can become very dirty at times and may require more frequent bathing.

Cats don't really ever need bathing unless they are sick and cannot groom themselves. Cats are very good about grooming and keeping themselves clean. It is really unnecessary to bathe them.

If you want to do something, I would suggest using a leave-on mousse (dry shampoo) instead of a full bath with water and shampoo.

I would say you could use this once every couple months or so.

Is it safe to bathe my black cat with white-colored shampoo?

This should be fine as long as it isn’t a whitening shampoo and it is just that the color of the shampoo is literally white. If it is a whitening shampoo I would just read the label carefully as some could mess up Jan’s hair. If you are unsure, it may be best to use just a regular cat shampoo or diluted dawn soap (1:2 mixture of dawn:water). Also be careful to not get any shampoo in the eyes. I hope this helps!

He is a young kitten so bathing him shouldn't be as scary as it would for an adult cat. He will likely just be scared and try to climb out of the tub or climb you. Plory should be fine being bathed that frequently. Make sure you are using a pet shampoo. An oatmeal type shampoo tends to be more moisturizing and less likely to dry out the skin. Watch for any evidence of excessively dry skin. Definitely keeping him indoors would prevent him from getting so dirty but it is a balancing act between happiness and cleanliness! What cat shampoo is safe to use, and will my cat bite me when bathing?

There are cat and dog specific shampoos available at most pet stores, or on big box websites like Chewy or Amazon. While you certainly can bathe your kitty, I typically don't recommend this as a regular activity since the majority of cats do a great job of cleaning themselves. Unless your cat is getting herself into something that is causing her to be overly filthy, I would recommend letting her do the job herself to avoid yourself getting battle wounds.
