My cat has white spots inside ears. Is it normal pigmentation?

If it is not associated with itchiness or discomfort, there is no need to be concerned about this. Those white spots on Ed's ears could just be areas of normal pigment changes or areas where the hair is naturally thinner. As long as Ed is not itchy around his ears, does not have increased hair loss, and these spots do not get larger I would not be concerned and just monitor the area. Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is possible that this spot is part of Honey Boy's normal pigmentation of his skin. If you believe that this spot has appeared rapidly or suddenly, and if it is changing in size or appearance, I recommend making an appointment with your veterinarian to have it examined. Otherwise, you can monitor the spot over time and look for changes. Pigmented areas on the skin can be benign, but unfortunately, they could also indicate malignant forms of cancer, such as melanoma. Your veterinarian will be able to examine the area, and can take a biopsy of the site to send for histopathology to determine what cell types are present. I hope this is helpful!

From looking at the pictures it looks like Bella has freckles! As cats get older it is not uncommon for them to develop brown or black spots on their skin that are simply freckles. I would strongly recommend to keep a close eye on them though. If they are changing, developing scabs, and/or ulcerated, I would strongly recommend to see your veterinarian for an exam.

These are probably not sun burn areas, as those would be red and ulcerated in appearance. Instead these are probably freckles. To make sure that there are no other causes of this (i.e. Cancer, skin disease) I would recommend having your vet take a look at best areas or sharing a photo via private consultation request here with one of the available experts. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From what I can tell from the pictures the blue spots look like growths, especially in the first picture. In the second it could be just skin color. It is likely they are ceruminous adenomas but in order to know if they are benign the growth should be biopsied. If she develops many growths it can occlude the ear canal and cause persistent ear infections. I would have your Vet look at the blue discolored areas to confirm if they are growths and discuss biopsy. They can also check for others in the canal. I wish you and Jessica the best!
