Are brown spots on my white cat's ear from sun exposure normal?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

I noticed brownish spots, several on my white cat's top of her one ear. Can they be sun burn as she does sit by the windows when sunny. She is 6+ years old and very healthy indoor cat.

These are probably not sun burn areas, as those would be red and ulcerated in appearance. Instead these are probably freckles. To make sure that there are no other causes of this (i.e. Cancer, skin disease) I would recommend having your vet take a look at best areas or sharing a photo via private consultation request here with one of the available experts. I hope things work out well for your kitty.
