My cat has brown spots in/around ears. What are they? Are they normal?

  Hello. Pigmentary changes like this are very common in kitties. They are, essentially, freckles. Where we get concerned is when a discolored spot rapidly changes shape or color, becomes red, inflammed, crusty, or seems to bother your pet. If the skin is smooth & pink like all the surrounding skin, then there is nothing to worry about. You might point this out to your veterinarian at your next visit, but you should have no worries at this time.

  Hello, those look like darker pigment skin parts, sort of like a brith mark. If she has had these since 2013, you should not worry about them, they are normal for some cats to have these skin marks. Continue to check them out every once in a while just to make sure there are not changing in size or appearance, but otherwise, you should not have to worry about them.   These appear to possibly be freckles on your cats skin. As long as this isn't bothering Willow or the brown spots don't wipe off or smell, then it is likely just a pigment change and nothing to worry about. However, if you notice any raised areas on the skin then it's best to have your vet take a look at these areas and possibly have them tested.
