Why is my recently adopted cat throwing up orange and not eating?

It sounds as Oliver is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

If the energy level is normal for this kitten and he is acting otherwise fine, I would continue to monitor and maybe syringe feed some water if he is not drinking enough to help prevent dehydration. If he is lethargic and continues to vomit, then I would take him in to be looked at by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If he continues to vomit I recommend having a Veterinarian examine him. You can also call and see what food he was eating at Petco. Causes of vomiting: food allergy or intolerance, vaccine reaction, intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections or a foreign body (ate something that is stuck). Many cats develop signs of mild gastroenteritis once they change the owner. It is usually related to stress in the completely new environment and new food that is often introduced at the time of moving house. If it was only one vomit this morning, and Ghost is looking comfortable and has good appetite, you just need to monitor him at home. Ideally, he should be fed, at least for the next few days, the same food he was fed by the previous owners. If you like to change the food to something new, it should be slowly introduced to Ghost, mixed with his current food for the first few days. Please, offer him small meals 3-4 times a day for the next 2 days and he should have free access to water. If he refuses to eat or looks unwell you may need to take him to your local vets for a check.

If she hasn’t had a broad spectrum deworming done , then I would request that. There is a parasite called Physaloptera that causes vomiting in cats and is very hard to diagnose, so I usually do a trial of the dewormer to see if it resolve. Hello, Vomiting in cats can be due to an intestinal blockage, stomach inflammation, kidney disease, or pain. The amount of severe vomiting makes me worry that she possibly ingested something that is too large for her to pass, and may have an intestinal blockage that requires surgery.
