My cat has a tick, is sick with cold symptoms, and in pain. Help!

I can't make much out from the pictures you've provided. However, I can tell you that if Tigger has multiples ticks on him and is showing signs of neurologic deficits, he should be seen by a veterinarian. There are certain tick borne diseases capable of causing clinical signs consistent with what you are describing. If you are able to get a more clear picture of the bug that is attached to Tigger, I might be able to better help with a diagnosis. If he is not drinking water either, depending on how long this has gone on for, it can cause dehydration fairly quickly. You might also try to obtain a temperature of Tigger at home rectally. Check to see if it is elevated above 102.5-103.0. If so, a fever in combination with the other symptoms certainly warrants some concern.

This looks like an engorged tick. You can look with a magnifying glass to see if you see legs at the area of attachment. Take tweezers at the place it’s attached at the skin to firmly pull back to remove it. Then clean the wound with hydrogen peroxide and apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. He may have a scab or sore in that area for several days after removing the tick. I use a Seresto collar on my barn cat to prevent fleas and ticks. You can purchase one at PetCo. Dog tick products are toxic to cats so please read labels very carefully before applying any product on your cat. Hello. That is a tick. You can use a pair of tweezers or use a tissue to grab the tick as close to the skin as possible. A steady pull will dislodge the tick. Clean the spot with some peroxide & a dab pf a triple antibiotic. Then, wash your hands & Bobo should be fine. But do watch for any signs of illness as ticks do carry diseases that can be quite dangerous to cats. It might take a week or two to see signs, if they are to appear. If you can, try to apply a good flea & tick preventative on Bobo regularly to prevent more ticks from getting on him. Two to consider are Frontline GOLD or Bravecto for cats. It's difficult to know what you are describing without seeing it, but I'm guessing it is either fleas, or lice that are causing the problems. Mites tend to be microscopic. There are fur mites that can be seen if you look close and long enough, but require magnification to see them well. In order to rid the cats and your environment of the infestation, you will first need to know what you are dealing with. For this, I recommend taking Titian to a veterinarian. They will be able to identify it and give the most effective treatment. You will also need to do some good environmental clean-up. Pay particular attention to dark areas (i.e. under furniture and bedding) when cleaning. Hi, it is rare for cats to get lyme disease but they can become anemic from too many ticks as well as fleas. The best tick prevention out is called a Seresto collar. While they are more expensive than other flea collars, they last for months. You can order this online if no vets have it in your area. For now, pick the ticks off with tweezers, making sure to pinch from the base of the skin and pull hard to get the head. Some hair may come out with them and there may be a red spot. This will heal. I wouldn't mess with the remaining ticks, as if she's not letting you get them, you could potentially pull off their bodies and leave the heads, which could cause further irritation or infection. If you just gave the Bravecto, give it some time to work - it can take 12 hours to kill ticks that have latched on. If they aren't gone by tomorrow morning, let the vet take a look. This isn't an emergency right now, although it may give you the heebie-jeebies. Good luck, and I hope that Sheba's little friends die quickly!
