Why is my cat suddenly having seizures, vomiting, and scabs?

Hi, Sorry to hear about Jack, the episodes you describing with hypersalivation (increased salivation), shaking and urinating on himself which are happening more during the night can be seizures. I would strongly recommend to have him checked by a vet sooner than later as a frequency of few episodes in a few weeks is high and needs to be managed asap. It is always very helpful in diagnosis to have a video of the episode to show the vet so if you can do that in case another episode occurs before the vet appointment. Hope he will feel better soon.

Odie needs to see a veterinarian ASAP!! This is obviously not normal. Seizures in cats are not a good sign. Based on the fact that he is so young my guess is that he may have ingested a toxin/poison of some sort or sustained some trauma. There is nothing I can tell you to do over the internet. You have to have a diagnosis before any treatment can be offered. This is serious so please get him to a vet as soon as you can. Best wishes.

There are a plethora of causes for cough and vomiting/regurgitation which is what it sounds like he has. Chest x-rays are the first diagnostic needed to assess the lungs for disease, so I would recommend having some taken. If they were taken initially, retaking them would be a good idea. With the vomiting, abdominal x-rays could be helpful as well. This is a case where a consultation would be helpful as I could ask more pointed questions and perhaps guide you with a better list of likely causes to the issue. Poor Icky!! He sounds pretty sick and I suggest you get him to your vet as soon as possible. I would be concerned about the seizure activity. It could be caused by something affecting the brain, causing the tingling and itching, but really being a partial seizure. Maybe he sustained some trauma while out? It could also be what's called hyperesthesia syndrome. This is also a type of seizure activity but is more a strong sensitivity over the lower back that results in what you describe. Cats have very strong neurologic sensation in their mid to lower back. If your cat simply has fleas or some other allergic reaction causing intense itching in that area, the act of scratching the area can elicit the neurologic response of urinating and over reaction that you describe. Check your cat closely for fleas. Really, though I suspect something serious is going on here and he needs to be seen by a vet.

Poor Eclipse! These signs may all be unrelated, so it is important to have the appropriate diagnostics such as blood work and x-rays performed on Eclipse. Eclipse may have hair loss due to a bacterial or fungal infection and vomiting/seizures due to ingestion of a toxin or organ damage. I hope all is well!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jack. As you probably ready have experienced, neurologic disease is unpredictable in pets. There is no way to know if or when he will regain control of his body. However, he needs to see a veterinarian. He needs a thorough examination to assess to extend of his neurological problems. He needs to be able to breathe normally, eat and drink and go to the bathroom. Cats can have blood clots that can affect one limb. He needs to be checked for adequate circulation. There may be medications that can help him feel better. I hope this information helps!

Poor Nova! I don't think you're over-reacting at all, these are definitely signs that something isn't right. There are many things that could cause scabs or sores on her back. The most common possibilities would include allergies (food allergies, or an allergy to something in the environment), fleas, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). The vomiting could be related if Nova has food allergies, or it could be due to a separate problem. Treatment for these issues will depend on what the underlying problem is, so I would recommend taking Nova to the vet for an exam when you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests and may also recommend blood work if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.
