My cat is foaming, shaking, and peeing himself. Is he having seizures?

Poor Jack sounds quite sick, and I'm wondering if he has seen a vet. The seizures are pretty serious, as is the vomiting that has just developed. He should see a vet immediately, I'd take him into one now.

Hello. I'm sorry to hear that Guinness is having this issue. Yes, it sounds like seizure activity to me based on what you have described. You really need to get him to a vet for an examination and some bloodwork to start with. Epilepsy is possible however, if the seizures have just started now at 6 years of age, epilepsy as a diagnosis is less likely. Usually that shows up at a younger age - between 1 and 4 years. It's not impossible, but less likely. Seizures showing up at 6 years old OR if he has had more than one seizure within a short period of time then it is more likely to be something like neoplasia (cancer) somewhere in the brain or spinal cord. It is really best to document the seizure activity -write down when it happens, how long it lasts, what he does when he has the seizure and video tape the episode(s) if possible so your vet can see what is going on. Hello, sorry to hear about Indie. It does not sound like your typical seizure. It sounds more like he may be dreaming and waking up abruptly from these dreams. However, the disorientation and urinating, do sound a bit unusual and could be associated with something else. I would recommend recording the episodes if they continue to occur and show them to your veterinarian to see if they appear more like primarily neurologic events vs just a bad dream. Also monitor for other general signs of ill ness such as a decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, or lethargy. If you note any of these, then have him evaluated by your veterinarian. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jack. As you probably ready have experienced, neurologic disease is unpredictable in pets. There is no way to know if or when he will regain control of his body. However, he needs to see a veterinarian. He needs a thorough examination to assess to extend of his neurological problems. He needs to be able to breathe normally, eat and drink and go to the bathroom. Cats can have blood clots that can affect one limb. He needs to be checked for adequate circulation. There may be medications that can help him feel better. I hope this information helps!

It sounds like Scooby may be having mild seizure events. I would recommend video taping one of the events in question and showing it to your vet to clarify what these are for sure. If they are seizures then the vet will want to run some tests to check for possible causes and then anti-seizure medication will likely be prescribed to hopefully help manage Scooby’s condition. When pets have seizures, they are unable to respond to normal stimuli like calling their name. The shivering is still concerning because cats should not shiver. He could be sick and I recommend to have him examined today to play it safe. I hope this helps.

Oh my. These are all very serious symptoms, especially for a cat. They can indicate he could have a number of things going on including: a stroke, seizure, vestibular disease or even brain cancer. He should be seen right away by your vet for diagnotic testing (i.e. bloodwork, radiographs) if you want to pursue any possible treatment options for him.
