My cat is sluggish, sick, and drooling. Is it a medical emergency?

Poor SoCo sounds extremely ill, and the symptoms you are describing are a medical emergency. As a senior cat, he could have many things wrong with him including dental problems, diabetes, kidney failure, hyperthyroidism, liver failure, or cancer among others. He needs veterinary care now to diagnose what is causing all his symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

I'm sorry to hear that Bo is feeling so poorly. A foreign body intestinal and/or stomach obstruction will cause vomiting and nausea (drooling is a sign of nausea), a loss of appetite and lethargy. Foreign body obstructions require surgery and supportive fluids and medications for treatment. Without surgical removal of the foreign material, the intestinal wall will become severely diseased and perforate, causing intestinal contents to leak into the abdomen, causing severe infection (sepsis) which is life-threatening. Since Bo is doing so poorly, I strongly recommend taking him to the emergency vet immediately for evaluation and likely surgery. Do not give additional enemas or squeeze his bladder without direct veterinary guidance. Some over the counter enemas (such as Fleet enemas) are toxic for cats. Squeezing his bladder could also cause an intestinal perforation if the intestines are diseased from the foreign material. I hope that all goes well.

I'm sorry Louie is sick! The drooling could be due to nausea or pain, and when cats are sick, they typically become lethargic. Unfortunately his symptoms are quite general and could be caused by a number of different things such as a systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or an injury. The only way to know for sure what is causing them is to have him seen by a vet, and I'd recommend taking him in first thing in the morning so he can be examined, diagnosed, and treated. Drooling can be a sign of dental disease, oral ulcers from ingesting toxins or from some medical conditions, or even nausea or pain. If you feel Leo's behavior is abnormal you should either recheck with your vet or get a second opinion elsewhere. A sedated oral exam might be helpful, or blood work might be recommended as well.

The weakness and drooling is very concerning and not normal behavior for such a young cat. This may be related to tick borne diseases for weakness from anemia and I strongly recommend an emergency vet visit and blood tests as soon as possible

I am sorry Finn has you so worried today. There are a few reasons that a young cat like Finn may be drooling. Pain in the mouth due to a tooth issue or ulcers on the tongue or cheeks, eating something they aren't supposed to like plants or foreign objects are some common reasons. Some cats will also drool a little bit when they are really happy. I once had a cat that would drool very small amounts when he was happy and purring like crazy. When you take him in the vet will likely do an oral exam and try to examine his teeth, tongue and cheeks as best as they can (this can be hard to do in a cat who is fully awake). If they have any concerns about not being able to see everything they may recommend sedation to get a better look. Since Finn is eating and drinking and as long as he isn't vomiting or acting lethargic I think it would be ok to wait for your appointment tomorrow. Be on the lookout for any other symptoms he may have and make sure to tell your vet if you notice anything. That can help in making a diagnosis. If the drooling becomes profuse (think foamy drool all around the lips) or if he seems to be in pain or if he stops eating and drinking then I would recommend you take him in sooner.

Please have Bleu assessed by a vet as soon as possible it sounds like he is in pain and likely has an infection in the mouth either from a broken jaw or damaged tooth. HE requires pain medication and a full assessment, probably under sedation in order to investigate fully - do nor offer him food in the meantime as he may need to be fasting for the procedure
