Is it safe to delay my 17-year-old cats' annual vaccinations?

Since he is six years old an presumably has been kept current on his vaccinations he should have plenty of built-in immunity to tide him over. It is possible to have a titer blood test done to see if he even needs to have a booster, but the drawback to this is that the blood test sometimes costs more than simply doing the vaccinations and it does no harm to give the vaccination.

He should be ok for another few months, but I'd keep him indoors at all times to be safe if he is allowed outside. I remember recently I fell almost a year behind in one of my cat's vaccines because I was so busy and forgot, but I was able to vaccinate him with no issue. But he is indoor only, so it wasn't a big deal as he wasn't exposed to any other animals. Get his vaccines when you can. I hope this helps!

Vaccines for kittens should be given 4 weeks apart. It is best to stay as close to that schedule as possible and can be difficult this time of year due to the holidays. If waiting until January is only a week behind, it will be fine. If waiting that long pushes them several weeks behind, then it is best to do them. At their ages this should be the final round

Vaccines are not age dependent but health dependent. Your vet should do blood work first due to her age to make sure there are no underlying health issues prior to a vaccine. If she is healthy and at risk and has not had one in the last 3 years, then I would reccomend getting the vaccine If there are other problems, then I would wait on any vaccines and address the other problems

I'm glad to hear that Kitty is feeling better again! If her vet examines her and says that she appears healthy, there is no reason to delay her vaccine. Vaccinations are effective when given 3-4 weeks apart so that there is appropriate stimulation for both short term (IgM) and long term (IgG) antibody formation.

Hi there, I would talk to your vet and see what they are comfortable based on her health status. If the place you are moving requires vaccines, they may also require boosters or a written letter from your vet stating that she doesn't need the boosters. We are finding that some vaccines are effective for 3 years or longer. I'm not sure what vaccine you mean by "the one after it," but if your vet's plan was to skip the "tricat" vaccine altogether this year, that may be their normal recommendation. However, I would strongly recommend you discuss this with your veterinarian or with one of his assistants; they can explain their vaccine protocol to you.
