Found roundworm after deworming. Is my cat's Revolution still working?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

I found a roundworm on my cats bed. Both cats and dogs were given a dewormer a month ago. Which flea medication should I give to my dogs now? I have revolution for the cats but I’m not sure if part of it evaporated. How much should be given to a 10lb Cat?

I have attached more information on roundworms in dogs and cats below because it is a little different for each species.

Keeping your dogs on regular heartworm preventative should prevent them from having problems with roundworms. Here is a comparison of heartworm prevention products.

Most flea preventatives do not have a dewormer in them, but here is a listing of current flea control products and what they treat/prevent.

The Revolution dose for Oscar would cover 5-15 pounds, so I would not expect a problem with his weight since he is right in the middle of that. It is possible to see worms passed after deworming, so just because you see a worm does not mean the Revolution is not working.
Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.
