My cat has diarrhea after Revolution. Is it parasite die-off?

I’m so sorry for the loss of your cat. Revolution is extremely safe and is well tolerated in cats; there is no reason to suspect Revolution as the cause of death. My sincere condolences to you on your loss. ❤️

diarrhea after deworming can be normal, but usually for no more than a couple days. this is probably due to something else, either a virus, bacteria or something in the food he isn't copping with. i would recommend taking him to the vet in order to get it treated.

Hi there, Sorry to hear about Cricket's inconsistent stools. There are a couple of things that come to mind with this problem in a young cat. I'm glad to hear he is on Revolution, that does eliminate almost all parasites. Coccidia and Giardia are two types of parasites that would need a different medication for treatment, so parasites aren't totally off the list. Some cats have food allergies that will lead to occasional vomit or diarrhea when exposed to a certain protein, and some cats will have irritable bowel disease that responds best to a prescription GI diet. I'd recommend talking to your vet about Cricket's specific case and what their diagnostic recommendations are for him. I hope this helps. Just like your veterinarian suggested, this may take a few to even several days. For that reason, if it has not resolved, I would not be too concerned yet. If the worms are the only thing causing his diarrhea, this should resolve shortly. That will really be the best indicator of when the worms have resolved. Good luck!

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks like a roundworm. You should apply Revolution on Ninny as this product is effective against roundworms. However, if the worms come back, you should go for de-wormer in tablets, for example Drontal.

That does not look like a typical worm. If you can't take her to a vet, the best thing would be to get a stool sample and just take the sample to your vet for an analysis to determine if she has any parasites. You could also buy a broad spectrum dewormer and treat her for parasites or use Revolution on her which would treat for fleas, heartworms, roundworms, and hookworms. If the diarrhea continues, then she really needs to be seen by a vet. Maybe you could find a mobile vet that could come to your home to examine and treat.
