My cat has worms. Can Revolution treat them or are OTC dewormers safe?

Yes, it is fine to deworm her again. Due to the fact that Merrill currently has worms, she should be dewormed every month for the next two to three months, and then she should be dewormed every three months. It's also safe to give her the Revolution again now. It can be given as early as two weeks after the previous treatment if needed.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are many over the counter products available in pet stores in the U.S. that are good dewormers. Milbemax, Revolution, Drontal, Strongid, Panacur, are some examples. I recommend calling your local vet to ask which products are most efficacious and available in your area, and you can get them from the store. For feral cats, the biggest problem is getting the medication into them, so you can talk with your vet about pills vs. liquids. If you are feeding them then a tablet in the food might work, but only if you are feeding them separately. Best of luck with the kitties!

Hello. Since you wormed her for the tapeworms, it is a good idea to also worm for roundworms & hookworms. You should be able to easily find this at PetSmart, just look for anything that indicates it has pyrantel pamoate in it & just follow the label directions. It depends on which type of worms you are talking about. Revolution does not kill tapeworms which is what I am guessing you are referring to. Profender will kill tapeworms. So, I would suggest you do both but don't put them on at the same time. I would do one, and then wait 7-10 days before applying the other one. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

You received a highly effective preventive medication which also covers mites besides the ones you mentioned. Realize that your kitties probably are stressed out with the two moves, one away from the person they loved (yes hoarder kitties are loved too, and love their owner) to the shelter and then from the shelter to you. Give them lots of TLC and they will get used to their new home soon.
