Unspayed kitten sick with discharge after heat. Could it be pyometra?

I'm sorry Frankie isn't well! It is possible that she is pregnant, but I would also be concerned that this discharge you are seeing is from a pyometra. A pyometra is a life threatening infection of the uterus that requires immediate medical attention. Leaving it untreated is fatal. It's also serious she won't eat. When cats don't eat for a period of time, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. I would take Frankie back into a vet immediately. The vet can diagnose what is causing her discharge and why she isn't eating, and can treat her. Please know that if she does have a pyometra, spaying her is part of the recommended treatment. That discharge is very abnormal. My guess is that she may have a pyometra (uterine infection). I suggest you get her to a vet as soon as you can. If you are not near an emergency vet she can likely wait until morning as long as she is eating and drinking OK. If she is acting sick then you need to find an emergency vet right now. Discharge from the vulva of an unspayed female is always very concerning. Your cat may have a urinary tract infection or may have a more serious condition called a pyometra. This is where the uterus becomes infected. Pyometra can be life threatening. If this is what is going on with Panda she will need surgery to have her uterus removed. I would take Gypsy into the vet right away. I see that she isn't spayed, and her symptoms could be indicative of a pyometra. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. It could also be that she is sick with a GI illness or pancreatitis causing her symptoms, but because I can't see her in person to rule out a pyometra and the fact that it is so deadly, it's best she sees a vet now. Poor girl. Pyometra doesn't usually cause just bloody discharge. It will be a foul smelling pink discharge or no discharge at all. However, if she had her last heat cycle 1-2 months ago and now appears to be having a similar heat cycle, then I would definitely suspect that she has pyometra. At any rate, because she is so ill, I would highly recommend Zoe see your local vet for a thorough exam and medical care. Any pet that refuses food for more than 24-48 hrs should be seen, because an underlying illness is present that needs to be identified and treated for. Other signs of a pyometra in cats can include vomiting, lethargy, and a discharge from the vulva. If you are really scared she has a pyometra, my advice would be to bring her into a vet right away. A pyometra is fatal without treatment, and time is of the essence for the success of treating them. In my opinion, it's always best to be safe than sorry, and I'd rather have an animal checked out with nothing wrong than not have them checked out and it be something serious.
