My cat's poop has white specks. Is this normal or a concern?

White specs in the feces are usually not very concerning, but it's really difficult to say for sure without seeing it. It's reasonable to assume that this could be a dead worm that you are seeing. We often see dead worms in the feces after giving a deworming pill. If Felix is otherwise acting normal and eating/drinking normal, then I would not be concerned. That is nothing to be extremely worried about at this stage as it could be only related to diet. I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. Hello, I assume you mean Tom’s feces are white? If that is the case, I recommend having him seen by a vet, and also taking a fecal sample from Tom in to your vet so that they can examine it and treat as needed. Good luck!

Pale, white, or gray stools may be indicators of liver disease or intestinal bacterial infections. You may want to take a stool sample as well as your cat, if the stool does not normalize over the next few days or of your kitty appears ill. The vet may want to do blood work to make sure the liver is functioning properly. If so then it is likely that your kitty has an intestinal infection that will require antibiotics to clear up.

It could be worms, however without a photo or more info it would be hard to say what type. Since dewormers affect different types of parasites, bringing a sample of the worms into your vet (or providing a photo) can help with identification so the right dewormer can be used.

I would not say this is a normal consistency of stool to see. I would expect healthy stool to be well formed and a light brown color. However, the color of the stool can vary depending on the diet. The loose stools could also be from intestinal parasites. I would recommend having Hades' stool tested for parasites and if it comes back negative, start a new diet altogether. I would base the decision on going to the emergency clinic more on his attitude and behavior. If he continues to seem distressed then maybe consider going tonight. It is possible that he is having discomfort from an anal sac infection or from constipation. Do the white spots move? Do they look like rice? If so they may be tapeworm segments.
