My cat's poop is gray and loose. Is this normal or concerning?

Pale, white, or gray stools may be indicators of liver disease or intestinal bacterial infections. You may want to take a stool sample as well as your cat, if the stool does not normalize over the next few days or of your kitty appears ill. The vet may want to do blood work to make sure the liver is functioning properly. If so then it is likely that your kitty has an intestinal infection that will require antibiotics to clear up.

Sometimes even a simple diet switch from one food to another is enough to cause intestinal inflammation or bacterial imbalance and diarrhea in cats. Though his risk is low, it's also possible he could have an intestinal parasite (cannot be ruled out without a fecal test). You can try adding one tbsp of canned pumpkin to his diet for fiber. If he does not improve soon, it would be best to take him to a vet. Sometimes a short course of medication is necessary to resolve this type of diarrhea.

That is nothing to be extremely worried about at this stage as it could be only related to diet. I would suggest to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. As long as she is defecating regularly and not straining the firm stool may not be a concern. It is a little unusual for a/d to be recommended as a maintenance diet - you may want to check with your vet and see if there is another diet that would be recommended for Hopper given her constipation. This diet is very nutritionally dense, so it's possible that she's just not making much stool. If she has been straining, or you feel her stool looks black and tarry I would recommend making a recheck appointment with your veterinarian.

The dark color of the stool does not overly concern me as this can reflect something he has eaten, but with the diarrhea, it may be something inflammatory in his intestines, or even parasites. If he has not been wormed in a while, I would have your veterinarian check his stool just to make sure. If everything is OK, your veterinarian may make some recommendations to address the diarrhea, including the possible use of antibiotics, probiotics or a dietary change. This is an interesting question and I applaud you for being such an observant and caring pet owner. Fecal color can be a variety of colors depending upon the age, breed, dietary intake, or possibly disease. And yes, Green feces can sometimes be a normal finding in kittens. However, the fact that some of this tool is soft concerns me. This is not normal. In my opinion, I would make an appointment with your veterinary clinic to have a physical examination performed. At this appointment, the vet may want to run tests such as a fecal smear, Giardia test, fecal analysis, etc. just to make sure that your cat does not have any problems that are causing the soft stool.
