Pale, white, or gray stools may be indicators of liver disease or intestinal bacterial infections. You may want to take a stool sample as well as your cat, if the stool does not normalize over the next few days or of your kitty appears ill. The vet may want to do blood work to make sure the liver is functioning properly. If so then it is likely that your kitty has an intestinal infection that will require antibiotics to clear up.

The discoloration in their stool most likely was from mucous in combination with their normal stool color. It can make the stool appear lighter in color and is caused by inflammation in the colon. It sounds like this was a temporary, minor problem and everything is back on track for your kitties. Happy to hear. I would recommend to take a sample of stool from the litter box to your veterinarian so they can check for any parasites in the stool.

I would be surprised if your cats both had liver disease and the only symptom was grey discolored stool. While technically liver and gallbladder disease can result in grey stool I’ve never seen it occur in practice. If you’re concerned or if your kitties begin vomiting, have a decrease in appetite, or develop diarrhea you could see your vet to have them check blood work.

White stool can be seen with a significant decrease in bile flow due to severe liver or gallbladder disease, but it doesn't sound like this is the case for Thumbs since he is otherwise healthy. Liver or gallbladder disease would also likely cause vomiting, decreased appetite and changes on lab work. It is more likely that the change in the color of his stool is related to diet and as long as he has been deemed healthy by your veterinarian it is not likely anything to worry about.

I would not say this is a normal consistency of stool to see. I would expect healthy stool to be well formed and a light brown color. However, the color of the stool can vary depending on the diet. The loose stools could also be from intestinal parasites. I would recommend having Hades' stool tested for parasites and if it comes back negative, start a new diet altogether. I would also consider a probiotic such Purina Fortiflora, which can be found online quite easily. I hope this helps! Pale coloured stool is very concerning (especially if her diet has not changed) as it indicates that the normal process of digestion and excretion is not being completed. Much of the normal stool colour comes from waste products of digestion including bile pigments and pale faeces can be a result of blockage of bile and/or reduced liver function. I would recommend a vet check and possible blood tests or ultrasound as soon as possible

Why is my cat's poop loose and light-colored for over a week?

Sometimes even a simple diet switch from one food to another is enough to cause intestinal inflammation or bacterial imbalance and diarrhea in cats. Though his risk is low, it's also possible he could have an intestinal parasite (cannot be ruled out without a fecal test). You can try adding one tbsp of canned pumpkin to his diet for fiber. If he does not improve soon, it would be best to take him to a vet. Sometimes a short course of medication is necessary to resolve this type of diarrhea.
