Hi there. After an episode of diarrhea, it's common for a cat to not poop for a day or two, since it takes time for the intestine to fill up again with solid stool. So if she's acting normal otherwise (eating and drinking, not vomiting, active, etc.), I wouldn't be concerned - she'll poop when she's ready :)

From what you described, it seems that Tigger had a transient gastrointestinal issue that is likely resolved now. This does tend to happen occasionally with cats for various reasons and is often not a big concern.

After diarrhea/loose stools resolve, they often have a lag period of a couple of days where they don't poop. This will happen as the intestines are getting back to normal.

I would not be worried at this time and actually this is encouraging news that the intestinal problem has cleared. If he goes more than three days without pooping and is not acting normal, then I would be more concerned and would advise a check-up by your vet.

It is concerning that Tigger hasn't gone poop in a couple of days. It could be that she had a large amount of worms that have now died and are causing obstipation (inability to poop). She could have a foreign body or she could be dehydrated causing the obstipation. I would have her seen by a vet immediately. She may need a laxative or enema to help her poop. Please do not give her any human laxatives, they contain ingredients that cause electrolyte abnormalities in cats. The vet can administer a safe one. Good luck, I hope this helps!

It is very common for a cat to not have any bowel movement for a couple of days after having diarrhea because it takes time for stool to build up again in the colon after an episode of diarrhea. I would be concerned if she is straining to defecate without producing any stool, vomiting or not eating. If everything seems normal other than the lack of stool production, then I would just give it a little more time. My guess is that she will pass some stool tonight or tomorrow. Cats not pooping after diarrhea & fast. Should I be concerned?

If they are acting normal and eating fine then it may just be from the 12 hour fast and loose stools. You could monitor for another day and see if they go. If not or they start straining to defecate and/or vomit then they should be examined by your vet for treatment.

IT is possible that Myrtle is not passing stool is secondary to the diarrhea. Sometimes after a few days of diarrhea it will take a few days for fecal material to build back up in the colon and produce a normal bowel movement. I would not be concerned if Myrtle does not defecate for a few days as long as she is eating and playing. Typically I would recommend picking 1 food and sticking with it. switching foods can cause diarrhea/soft stool. Some cats are picker than other about the food or dry vs wet. I would recommend feeding whatever you find Myrtle likes to eat. hope that helps

Kitten had bloody diarrhea, hasn't pooped in 24 hrs. Is he okay?

I'm so sorry to hear that Percy developed diarrhea. It is very common for cats to not defecate for a period of 24-72 hours after having diarrhea. It takes some time for stool to build up again after an episode of diarrhea. So, as long as Percy is eating well, acting normally and not straining to defecate, I would not worry about the lack of stool for 24 hours. I would be sure to have your veterinarian check a stool sample if that has not already been done. Once he does pass normal stool, you can slowly (over a period of 3-4 days) transition him back to his normal diet. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. My cat was poisoned and isn't pooping. Is this normal during recovery?

Any poisoning is dangerous. Without knowing the specific poison she ingested I can't give you a prognosis at all. Do not worry about her not pooping. She hasn't been eating enough and most poisons slow down the GI tract. Unless she is straining to poop like she is constipated I would not be worried about it.

Simba may be going in the other cat's litter tray, and I would try to see if you can follow him around to see if you can catch him pooping in the other tray. Kittens do not necessarily poop right after a meal, and it could be he is pooping at night in the other tray while you are sleeping. Given that he is acting normal, I wouldn't be to concerned. If he wasn't pooping at all, you would see other signs lack of appetite, potentially vomiting, straining to poop, and lethargy. Should you see any of those signs, then I would be concerned and have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.

My cat had diarrhea & vet care. Should I worry about no poop/pee?

I'm sorry Leyla hasn't been well! Given that she had diarrhea, it's not surprising that she hasn't passed a stool today. You often see a period where a cat won't pass feces after having diarrhea, and I wouldn't be too concerned about that just yet. As for not urinating, she could be dehydrated from the diarrhea and sickness, and I would add some low sodium chicken broth in with her chicken to get more moisture into her. You can also offer her some wet food. If she still hasn't peed by tomorrow, then I would be more concerned and take her back into the vet right away. I hope this helps and she feels better soon!
