My cat had diarrhea & vet care. Should I worry about no poop/pee?

It is very common for a cat to not have any bowel movement for a couple of days after having diarrhea because it takes time for stool to build up again in the colon after an episode of diarrhea. I would be concerned if she is straining to defecate without producing any stool, vomiting or not eating. If everything seems normal other than the lack of stool production, then I would just give it a little more time. My guess is that she will pass some stool tonight or tomorrow. If she has not passed stool by tomorrow night, I would have her examined on Friday before going into the weekend. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. If they are acting normal and eating fine then it may just be from the 12 hour fast and loose stools. You could monitor for another day and see if they go. If not or they start straining to defecate and/or vomit then they should be examined by your vet for treatment.

Hi there. After an episode of diarrhea, it's common for a cat to not poop for a day or two, since it takes time for the intestine to fill up again with solid stool. So if she's acting normal otherwise (eating and drinking, not vomiting, active, etc.), I wouldn't be concerned - she'll poop when she's ready :)

IT is possible that Myrtle is not passing stool is secondary to the diarrhea. Sometimes after a few days of diarrhea it will take a few days for fecal material to build back up in the colon and produce a normal bowel movement. I would not be concerned if Myrtle does not defecate for a few days as long as she is eating and playing. Typically I would recommend picking 1 food and sticking with it. switching foods can cause diarrhea/soft stool. Some cats are picker than other about the food or dry vs wet. I would recommend feeding whatever you find Myrtle likes to eat. hope that helps

The lethargy you are seeing indicates a problem as well. My advice is to monitor her tonight, and if she is still lethargic in the morning, hasn't peed, and/or still hasn't pooped, take her into a vet first thing. I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry to hear that Percy developed diarrhea. It is very common for cats to not defecate for a period of 24-72 hours after having diarrhea. It takes some time for stool to build up again after an episode of diarrhea. So, as long as Percy is eating well, acting normally and not straining to defecate, I would not worry about the lack of stool for 24 hours. I would be sure to have your veterinarian check a stool sample if that has not already been done. Once he does pass normal stool, you can slowly (over a period of 3-4 days) transition him back to his normal diet. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. That sounds worrisome that she is either not producing urine or that she is unable to urinate. Both of these conditions are serious. I recommend to play it safe and to have Layla examined today. You may need to get her in with another clinic or even an emergency clinic. The doctor will need to palpate her bladder and run bloodwork and a urinalysis. It's best to play it safe.
