My cat won't eat or pee after UTI treatment. Is this normal?

You just took him back from the vet and he has been urinating so far. clavamox is an antibiotic that often affects the appetite, the pain killers can do that as well. unless you have reasons to believe he is blocked again i would recommend to wait until tomorrow, if he is not eating by then you should take him back to the vet. don't forget that this condition is often caused due to stress and your main aim is to reduce his stress at the moment, taking him home and back to the vet may add more stress on him and can worsen his condition. stay in touch with your vet on the phone if you are in any doubts.

Hello, sorry to hear about Arki. This could be the case and it may take him a day or so to resume his appetite. However, if Arki is not able to urinate, has gone greater than 4-6 hours with urinating, is making frequent visits to the litter box and is unable to produce urine, or is sitting in the litter box and vocalizing then he should be evaluated immediately as these are signs he may be obstructed and would require emergency veterinary attention. If he is obstructed, then Arki is unlikely to want to eat anything as this is painful condition. If he is urinating, then as his UTI begins to clear, he will likely resume his normal appetite. It can be normal if the bladder is empty. It could also be a sign that he is obstructed again. If he’s painful, not eating or his abdomen is firm and painful please take him right in for a recheck. If there’s no urine in another six to twelve hours then that is an emergency and he’ll need to be seen right away for treatment again. Have Moose examined tonight by your veterinarian or at the nearest veterinary ER. A cat that is not urinating or is unable to urinate should be considered a veterinary emergency. An exam and testing may diagnose another urinary tract infection or a urinary obstruction. Blood work can be submitted to assess major organ function, especially kidney function. Treatment will depend on the diagnosis.

Hello. In your post, you indicated that your cannot cannot pee. This is a life threatening emergency and he should be taken to the closest hospital or emergency clinic. If he has an obstruction, this needs to be taken care of immediately. In addition to it being very painful, it causes kidney failure and he can die if this is not corrected immediately. His urine should be looked at microscopically to determine if he has an infection or crystals or possibly a small stone. He will require a catheterization while sedated to relieve the blockage. He will probably need fluids and may require hospitalization. While the antibiotics you have listed are all potentially good for a uti, we are legally not permitted to prescribe or recommend a dose without an examination. I am more concerned about the fact that she is not eating well and that needs to be further addressed as it is unlikely to be due to a urinary tract infection. I recommend that you have Luchadora reevaluated by your veterinarian on Saturday for further assessment and treatment. Keep in mind that if she is not feeling well, they may not proceed with vaccines that day. You may take in a urine sample that day. It is not safe for cats to not eat for a week. Please speak with your veterinarian today about what you should do. Depending on what his urinalysis looked like, you may be able to stop the antibiotics (which can cause nausea and a decrease in appetite). You may also be able to try canned food or a different type of prescription diet food. Regardless, it is more important to get James Bond to eat regardless of what he eats right now in order to prevent potential liver problems from not eating. If blood work has not been checked, that may need to be done as well. If James Bond continues to not eat, he will likely need to be hospitalized. Good luck!
