My cat's neck cracked and popped. Is this normal or concerning?

There may be some arthritis that could be age related or related to his old injuries. Ideally, he should be examined and possibly x-rayed by your veterinarian. If he is painful, your veterinarian may prescribe medication for pain management.

Given that this sound only occasionally occurs when Marley falls asleep in a sitting position or licking his mouth after eating, and the fact the vet said he was healthy, I wouldn't be too concerned about this behavior. If the sound increases, or he starts doing it regularly, then I would have him checked out by a vet :-)

Many cats sit this way actually. It does not mean anything. As long as he is eating and drinking, acting normally and not in pain then I would not be worried about this at all. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

If your cat is otherwise acting normal and eating fine I wouldn’t worry too much about this. Keep an eye on your cat and watch for drooling any swelling or soreness in the mouth or any reluctance to eat. If you notice any of the signs then you may want to have her checked out. The thyroid gland in cats is normally not palpable. The lump may be localized infection, inflammation, fatty tumor or a cyst just to name a few possibilities. You can monitor it for rapid change or growth. See your veterinarian for an exam if it causes discomfort or impedes motion, breathing or eating. A fine needle aspirate can be done in the clinic to collect a sample for pathology if necessary.

Yes, it can be normal. As long as she is having no problems walking, jumping, etc I would not worry about it. If she is having issues then you need to take her to the vet for an exam and x-rays of the hips/hind legs. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

That is so scary! Given that she is acting normally, is able to eat, and can talk, I'd just keep an eye on her for now. If you see bruising on her neck, difficulty eating or breathing, or any other concerning signs, take her into a vet immediately.
