My cat sits in weird positions. Is this normal or a health concern?

Yes, it can be normal. As long as she is having no problems walking, jumping, etc I would not worry about it. If she is having issues then you need to take her to the vet for an exam and x-rays of the hips/hind legs. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

I do not believe from the photo you have provided that Pi is in pain. This can be a normals stance a cat takes. Often they can be in this position before they pounce. Signs that your Pi might be in pain would be; Restlessness Increased vocalisations Hiding behaviours Reluctance to eat

I would be concerned that this may be related to some underlying discomfort as most cats will rotate positions and bend both legs at some time. Pets are right/left handed as are people and most will prefer a certain side but not to the point of never changing position. A thorough exam and xray of the paw/leg should be considered as early treatment and diet change/supplementation can help to reduce the impact pf injuries and arthritis in later life

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be due to a neurologic issue if it is happening also when he is trying to walk or stand up. Otherwise, if just happens when he is sleeping then it could potentially be normal. He’s a good looking cat! The going limp on your lap is generally not abnormal. Some cats get very relaxed and some freeze if they are afraid. Reading the rest of his body language will tell you which it is. If you notice lameness, I recommend to record him walking or whenever it is that you notice he lameness and then set an appointment with his veterinarian. Yes, this can happen like it does in humans sometimes. As long as your cat is able to move his neck correctly, is behaving normally, doesn't appear to be in pain, and is eating and drinking normally, it's not something to cause concern. If it does continue to happen, however, then I would have him seen by a vet for a health check.

For some cats this is normal. This is likely the case with Tinkle, because she has been eating like this for so long. They will only eat as much as they need and will maintain a lean body weight. This is only concerning if the cat is too thin. This could indicate a long history of parasitism (worms), or some other condition. If you are ever concerned that she is too thin, then I recommend having a vet doctor examine her for any abnormalities. Otherwise, if she is a 4-5 and acting normal, then it is great that she is so good at maintaining this lean body weight. Thin cats tend to be healthier and live longer than fat cats.
