Can I treat my cat's mange at home with ivermectin or lime sulphur?

Hello. You can use the lime sulfur dip, just follow the dilution instructions on the bottle very carefully. Apply the dip as best you can to the affected areas, do not get it in the eyes or mouth. You will need to watch this kitty very closely to prevent her from licking or grooming the wet dip. Once it is dried, she should be fine. Repeat the treatments as indicated on the bottle. Revolution treats mange but it should be repeated 2 weeks after the initial dose to be effective. The fact that he is an indoor cat makes mange less likely but it can happen. He could also have a skin infection and/or allergies and need additional medications. Call your vet and give him/her an update and have him rechecked. He might just need an antibiotic and an antihistamine.

Sarcoptes mites are hard to get rid of. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. 1) You need to move out of your house or apartment for three to four days. Mites that are not on a body cannot survive for more than three days. 2) Your pets need to be treated with an Ivermectin or Dectomax injection (your vet can do this). This will kill the mites on and in your cat's skin. 3) You need to go to your doctor for an exam. he will likely prescribe an ointment, that you will have to rub all over your body, or tablets. Your doctor may have further instructions. All this should help get rid of the scabies. Be aware that even after treatment your skin and your cat's skin will itch for a week or more as the mites die off.

Notoedres cati can be treated by a number of different options including dips, ivermectin and topical products including Revolution and Advantage Multi. So, your veterinarian will need to perform a skin scraping to determine what type of mite is present in order to determine what treatment options are available.

Hello. There is a product called Lime Sulfur Dip that will kill just about any mites on cats. It is smelly, but very effective & very safe. You will mix one part dip in 16 parts water & dip your kitty once a week. It usually takes 3 dips to see an effect. You can also use Frontline Plus, but it does not get as many mite species as the dip does. While I don't think it will harm Sunny, unfortunately there are no OTC treatments you can use on him. I have never come across a topical medication that has been effective for treating ringworm in cats aside from prescription-based lime sulfur dips. The concern is that the Microsporum canis (fungal organism causing ringworm) is spread diffusely throughout a cat's entire hair coat, such that an isolated topical spray will not cover all surfaces of every hair, and lead to frequent recurrence. He needs a topical prescription medication. I would call his vet to see if there is way you can get him on a cancellation list to get him in sooner. Only touch him with gloves so you don't get it as well. Best of luck.

I do not recommend you use tetmosol soap on Casper, as it may lead to toxicity, and it would also take a very long time to be effective. I recommend you speak to your vet, as there are some options for treatment of mange in cats that are safer, easier, and much more effective.
