My cat has mange. Can Tetmosol soap treat it safely and effectively?

It is not recommend you use ivermectin yourself without the guidance of a vet - it is too easy to overdose. All you need to do is apply a product called Revolution (sealamectin - a derivative of ivermectin). It is a topical spot-on treatment you would use once every few weeks until the skin is cleared. You should be able to get this from the vet. Lime sulphur dip is fine to use but since cats don't tolerate bathing that well it will probably be a fight.

I have never used Ascabiol so I am not sure about the toxicity but a safe and effective treatment for scabies is to apply Revolution every month. Talk to your vet about prescribing Revolution instead of the Ascabiol

Revolution treats mange but it should be repeated 2 weeks after the initial dose to be effective. The fact that he is an indoor cat makes mange less likely but it can happen. He could also have a skin infection and/or allergies and need additional medications. Call your vet and give him/her an update and have him rechecked. He might just need an antibiotic and an antihistamine.

There are a couple different kinds of mange so in order to treat it, you need to know what kind it is. The best option would be to trap the cat and get it to the local Humane Society or your vet so they can spay/neuter the cat (mange is passed to offspring), test for mange and then they can dispense the appropriate medication. Hello and thank you for your question! Good question! As far as medication is concerned, there are a lot of very effective Rx mediations out there on the market for fleas. Your veterinarian will be able to prescribe you with a Rx medication. This is really the best way to treat and prevent fleas. As fas as at home remedies, dawn ship soap will help to kill adult fills, but will not take care of the life cycle of the flea (eggs or pupa) and is only a temporary solution. If the sores are infected, Moe really should be treated with antibiotics by his veterinarian. In the mean time, however, you can wash the sores with a mild soap and water and keep them clean. 3% hydrogen peroxide can help to keep the areas clean as well. Hello. I would not recommend putting soap in your cats ears. You can purchase an ear mite remedy at most pet retailers, but you might want to have your veterinarian take a look first. Many times when people think their pet has ear mites, it is actually an infection, foreign body ( like grass awn ) or allergies. These all will require different treatments or remedies. Sarcoptes mites are hard to get rid of. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. 1) You need to move out of your house or apartment for three to four days. Mites that are not on a body cannot survive for more than three days. 2) Your pets need to be treated with an Ivermectin or Dectomax injection (your vet can do this). This will kill the mites on and in your cat's skin. 3) You need to go to your doctor for an exam. he will likely prescribe an ointment, that you will have to rub all over your body, or tablets. Your doctor may have further instructions. All this should help get rid of the scabies. Be aware that even after treatment your skin and your cat's skin will itch for a week or more as the mites die off.
