Why is my cat lethargic, not eating, vomiting, and drinking a lot?

Please take Simon to an out of hours veterinarian or pet ER right now. It looks like he found something toxic. He will need to be hospitalised and treated symptomatically (iv fluids, etc) if you do not know what he could have ingested. Please take him to a vet now.

It's hard to say if you should be worried at this point but if the vomiting continues you will have to get him evaluated. Any sign of illness in a pet that persists or worsens needs to be evaluated by your veterinarian and re evaluated until the problem is resolved. Vomiting causes fluid loss and electrolyte loss and can lead to dehydration and weakness. Not sure if Simon is an indoor/outdoor cat but I would advise deworming him since intestinal worms are so prevalent. That is an easy thing to do to rule out intestinal parasites and should be done in all cases of gastrointestinal upset as long as the medication can be safely given and it is not vomited back up. Intestinal parasites are extremely common across the globe and account for the vast majority of vomiting and diarrhea cases. Other causes include inflammation, infection, dietary problems (including dietary indiscretion or eating things pets are not supposed to eat, food sensitivities/allergies), ingestion of foreign bodies or exposure to toxins, bacterial overgrowth in the gut, problems in the stomach, intestines, or even problems outside of the intestinal tract/stomach including pancreatitis, kidney/liver problems, metabolic disease (diabetes,etc), endocrine diseases (thyroid or other hormone problems), etc. A thorough history and physical exam with resultant diagnostics such as fecal tests, blood tests, and more imaging studies such as x-rays/ultrasound to try to determine what is going on. Hello, sorry to hear about Dickens. It sounds like he is feeling very ill and I would recommend having him evaluated by your veterinarian. His signs sound consistent with potentially being diabetic, especially if he is overweight. Other causes could include liver or kidney disease, since he has not urinated much in the last 24 hours. Finally, he could have a urinary obstruction but it doesn't sounds like he is straining to urinate from what you are describing. It doesn't sound like this is something that will go away on his own, so I think Dickens should be evaluated today for his clinical signs. He will likely need bloodwork and potentially an abdominal ultrasound. Hope this helps and best of luck.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. It sounds like your kitty is very ill. I would recommend taking him to an emergency clinic (or his regular clinic tomorrow if an emergency clinic is not possible) for an exam and labwork. This could be something treatable (or at least manageable, if not curable) or it may not be. I would be worried about kidney disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, cancer, and liver disease - it could definitely be other things too, but these are at the top of my list. Yes, it sounds like Sebastian is lethargic. His symptoms are non-specific, but could indicate infection, trauma leading to injury, or endocrine/autoimmune disease. I recommend that you have him seen by a veterinarian to help determine the cause of his symptoms. Your vet may recommend blood and urine testing or even imaging such as an x-ray to help determine what is going on with Sebastian.

Your cat should be examined by a veterinarian for a work up and treatment. There are a lot of diseases that could cause those signs including diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal issues, thyroid disease, and cardiac disease. Your vet may need to run lab-work and take X-rays to diagnose.

I can see why you are concerned about Kansas! I am worried, also. There can be many, many causes for the symptoms you see, including intestinal obstruction, diabetes, and kidney failure. I recommend that you see a vet ASAP!
