Is it normal for a mother cat to leak poop after giving birth?

As long as she continues to eat well, this should slowly resolve over the course of the next 3-4 days. I would not be worried about anything at this stage based on your description. However, I recommend you speak to your vet about deworming for mom and the kittens. They can start deworming as early as 2 weeks of age. The diarrhea may be normal due to hormonal changes, could be diet related or it may be due to worms.

Bleeding for up to 48 hours post-labor is normal in cats, and should lessen over that 48 hour period. However, if you are seeing signs of illness or the discharge is not decreasing over time, it is best to seek vet care to rule out any more serious issues causing it. Yellow stuff out of the kitten's bottom is likely their first stool called the meconium, and is usually passed after they are born and start to nurse. This is normal, and the momma cat should clean it and herself up. However if she needs help, a warm wet washcloth can be used to help keep mom and babies clean. Again, if you see any signs of illness, the babies don't seem to want to nurse, are weak, or aren't growing, or the mother seems ill, a vet exam is always best.

Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. They probably got it from the mother. I recommend that you have them evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This can be quite uncomfortable and can progress to the point where she could develop a prolapsed rectum. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine this further and test her blood as well to make sure she has no abnormalities that need to be addressed. With the prolapse you are talking about, this may need surgical correction where the rectum is reduced back into place and a suture pattern is placed to keep it from re-prolapsing. The stitches are removed after a week or so. This problem likely happened from when she was giving birth to the kittens due to the strain of pushing them out. I hope this helps! Giving birth can be very traumatic and pain and inflammation can lead to reluctance to go to the toilet or inability to do so. Furthermore damage can be done to nerves and sometimes infections can develop. The likelihood is that she is sore and will return to normal.but I would take her to the vet for a check up to rule out anything more serious.

This can be normal for a new Mom. Give her a few more days to see if it improves. If it worsens or she not eating and not feeling well then take her in right away.
