My cat licked Epi-Otic ear cleaner and got it in eyes. Is it safe?

That would likely be safe as long as the ear drum is normal. Sometimes infections if the ear can cause the ear drum to tear. EpiOtic ear cleaner is another option that is safe and should be ok even if the ear drum is slightly damaged.

Hi, sorry to hear Neptune had this incident. There is nothing you can do now but she is at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Monitor her carefully for signs of breathing faster or heavier than normal. If you see that, take her to a vet. Also, rinse her eye our with some saline or lukewarm water. Watch for squinting or excessive tearing. Hopefully, she will be fine. Good luck!

Hi and thanks for posting! The Bio-Groom ear mite cleanser does contain Pyrethrins which can be toxic if consumed in large amounts. While licking a very small amount of it from his paw may not be enough to cause a serious problem, I would still keep on the look out. Concerning signs to watch out for are tremors, seizures, hypersalivation, panting, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you see any of these signs, I would recommend seeing a veterinarian right away.

Typically most eye flushes and things like this are safe if you happen to get some in the eye as well. I don't see any alarming ingredients there either that will cause any harm. From now on continue to use it around the eye just to be on the safe side. Also monitor her for any yellow or green discharge or excessive squinting, which would indicate she may have damage to her cornea and needs to be seen. I’d consider having Micole examine by your Vet and some blood work done. Pica can be a sign of an underlying condition, deficiency or inflammatory bowel disease. I hope this helps!

Your poor kitty! Yes, alcohol in the eye is dangerous because it can cause severe irritation, discharge, rubbing of the eye, which in turn can lead to a corneal ulcer. I would see if she will allow you to rinse her eye again with cool water, and keep close watch on her eye. If you see any redness, she starts rubbing at it, the eye appears swollen, or there is any discharge, take her into a vet right away. Hopefully, however, she didn't get any in her eye and she is fine. In the future, do not use alcohol on her scratches. Not only does it burn, but it can be harmful to her. It's safe to clean any scratches with warm water and antiseptic soap. I hope this helps, good luck!

It can irritate the eyes, but when done by a professional this risk is usually avoided rather well. If it did happen to get in the eye, then it would irritate the outside of the eye and conjunctiva (pink part around the eye), but would not normally cause any significant damage.
