My cat licked ear mite treatment. Is it toxic? What symptoms to watch?

It is possible that the tea tree oil has a significant odor that your cat may be able to smell easily and may like which leads him to lick your hair. I would discourage Sylvester from doing this as tea tree oil is toxic to cats even in small quantities. If Sylvester develops any symptoms such as vomiting, weakness, unstable walking, or tremoring please have him evaluated by a veterinarian promptly. Hope this helps!

I doubt a tiny amount like your described will cause any harm. Just continue to watch him. If he shows any change in behavior, vomiting, or diarrhea I would let your vet take a look at him to see if he needs any meds to help him feel better. I hope this helps!

Just keep an eye on her. She would need to eat a lot of the product to get sick. You may want to give some wet food with added water to get the product to pass through more quickly. I would expect some drooling as the only side effect. Do monitor her though and should you see any medical problems such as tremors or vomiting and diarrhea then I would take her in. Hello, thank you for your question. I believe that keeping a close eye on your cat and trying to prevent her from licking the product is a good option. Most of these products cause mild GI upset or excessive salivation when they are ingested, but rarely life threatening signs. If your cat develops any vomiting, diarrhea, or inappetance I would recommend having her seen by a veterinarian. Hope this helps, good luck!

Hi there. Poor Chloe! Even adult cats with a high ear mite load often respond similarly-there is intense itch with the mite die off as well as the ear itself often have some open wounds from them-the medication will burn. If Chloe is having any true neurological signs like seizures, intense shaking, strange looking pupils, etc-best to get her to an emergency room right away for treatment. Hi there! The product you placed on her has a few essential oils in it but nothing else. These are generally not toxic but could cause an upset stomach if ingested. The only worry I would have is the product not working as non of these oils in the product are efficacious in treating and preventing fleas in cats. I would try a Rx from your veterinarian. If Bell appears very irritated with the product on her, then I'd give her a bath to wash off the oils. A product called Revolution or Comfortis works very well. You may to ask your vet about getting Bell on either one of those or something similar.
