My cat got ear mite medicine in her eye. What should I do now?

Horner's syndrome can result due to an ear cleaning if there was damage done to the ear during the cleaning, but it can also result from an ear infection, blunt force trauma, and disease of the eye among other things. If Munna had Horner's syndrome, you would see other symptoms such as drooping of the eyelid of the affected side, the third eyelid would be raised and appear red, and the affected eye may appear sunken. Moon should see a vet for this immediately. It's very serious when one eye suddenly is dilated while the other is not. The vet can diagnose what is causing this to occur, and can treat him for it. Please take him into a vet now.

From the history it appears that she had rather severe upper respiratory infection. The eyes are commonly affected with upper respiratory infections and the raised third eyelid occurs with infections, so I think that is what your vet is treating for. However, this can also occur with a condition call Horner's Syndrome where the pupil decreases in size compared with the other. I can't tell from this picture if the pupil is actually smaller (the thrid eyelid is in the way), but if it is, I would have her checked for signs of Horner's. Hello. I do not think putting the medication in the eye months ago is causing this situation with Lily now, but you definitely need to have this checked out by your veterinarian. A color change can indicate the presence of uveitis, a general term used to describe inflammation in certain parts of the eye. Hello. It is possible that your kitty has a sensitivity to the Zymox, but really anything, even water, can cause a reaction in the inner ear. The first thing to do is stop using the Zymox, & be very, very careful about ever putting anything in her ears. For the most part, Zymox is very safe. I know of no broad spread problems with this product. But individual animals can react in odd or strange manners to some medications, even benign ones. It might be a good idea to have your cat examined by your veterinarian to make sure nothing else is amiss & especially to make sure the ear drums are OK & have not been ruptured. Make sure you tell your vet about this possible reaction between the Zymox & the dilated eyes as this may impact what can be used in the future. Most likely this won't hurt her because there is very limited absorption to the system from medications applied into the ear. Just wipe out the excess with a cotton ball or paper towel and flush the eyes with sterile eye wash if you suspect any could have gotten in there. She should be fine.

What you are describing sounds like Gavin may have an eye infection. I would get this checked out by a veterinarian so Gavin can receive proper treatment. He likely needs a course of oral antibiotics and eye drops. The longer an eye infection goes untreated, the higher chance there is for further complications secondary to the infection. Hi there. Poor Chloe! Even adult cats with a high ear mite load often respond similarly-there is intense itch with the mite die off as well as the ear itself often have some open wounds from them-the medication will burn. If Chloe is having any true neurological signs like seizures, intense shaking, strange looking pupils, etc-best to get her to an emergency room right away for treatment.
