Kitten acting crazy after ear mite drops. Did I use too much?

Most likely this won't hurt her because there is very limited absorption to the system from medications applied into the ear. Just wipe out the excess with a cotton ball or paper towel and flush the eyes with sterile eye wash if you suspect any could have gotten in there. She should be fine.

Hello. Use a cotton ball to gently remove any excess oil. I would guess that she is shaking her head because she has all these desperate dying ear mites in her ears. Once the ear mites have all died in a few days, she will be fine. But right now her ears are itching & this will get better pretty soon. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Chloe! I would take Chloe to the Vet when they open. Be careful not to get bit or have any of her saliva get in to open cuts. If she had any wounds on her in the last 6 months and hasn't be vaccinated for rabies, sadly that is very high on the list for a neurolgic kitten. Other possible causes are toxin ingested, FIP, infectious causes like toxoplasma, it is possible the Hartz medication is to blame so bring the packaging with you, or he could have an ear infection causing vestibular signs. Hi. The ear Mite medicine should not be causing him to be acting more calm than normal. There may be something else going on. I would recommend that you take him in for an examination with your veterinarian at the next availability.

Because all of them are affected, ear mites would still be my first suspicion, even though your vet did not find any under the microscope (the fact that you just cleaned the ear before that might have something to do with that indeed). it can take 4-7 days for the cats to stop scratching their ears after the treatment has been started. other reasons for these symptoms include fungal or bacterial ear infections.

No, this isn't normal, if your cat got to the treatment and licked it somehow that could be the cause, otherwise you might want to take your cat to the ER if he doesn't get better within half an hour.
