My cat has dark urine, isn't drinking, and is inactive. What's wrong?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I agree, that is some very dark urine which indicates he must not be drinking enough. You need to increase his water intake. The best way to do that is to add some chicken or beef broth to his food; use the low sodium kind. The added salt (even in the low sodium variety) should encourage him to drink more. If this dark urine continues for more than a few days you should take him to your vet for an exam and urine test.

Tiger may have a urinary tract infection or other issue causing dehydration and darker colored urine. I'd recommend having her examined by a veterinarian and also having a urine sample checked out. If necessary she can be given fluids as an injection to rehydrate her and be prescribed antibiotics to treat any infection that may be present. You can try offering her an all canned food diet to try to maintain her hydration. However, I do think she should be examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. I highly recommend taking Marshmallow to the veterinarian today. It can be very dangerous for cats not to eat and my concern is he has a urinary blockage which need immediate care. If you regular veterinarian isn't open please take him to an emergency veterinarian as soon as possible. A blocked cat that cannot urinate is life-threatening. It does sound Fala has been through a lot in his short life already! If he urinated outside the litter box, that can be a sign of a medical problem such as a UTI or bladder stones. It is concerning that he isn't eating much, and today isn't drinking water normally. Both of those things can also signify an illness. I would have him seen by a vet tomorrow for a physical exam, blood tests, and a urinalysis. Using these tests, the vet can diagnose if there is a medical illness causing his symptoms so he can be treated. I hope this helps you and Fala feels better soon!
