My cat has a cold, fever, and snuffles. What safe medicine can I give?

Most snuffles and flus will resolve themselves over 3-5days once a cat is indoors, warm and dry. If fever is continuing, antiinflammatory and possibly antibiotic medications may need to be prescribed by your vet. Calming supplements and foods should be considered if your cat is very anxious

Cats are extremely sensitive to other OTC medications and you can kill her with them. How do you know she has a fever? Without taking a rectal temperature you cannot be sure. Human drugs can cause severe side effects in cats and even death. If you can not afford the testing then ask your Vet for supportive care, things like fluids under the skin and antibiotics for a longer course. In the IS pneumonia is rate in cats. Cats more commonly are chronically infected with viral infections or if they have chronic fevers were worry about Feline Leukemia, FIV and Feline Infectious Peritonitis. Clavamox can often make cats nauseous. You may want to talk to your vet about using a different antibiotic. The temperature of a cat's nose or ears can vary widely, and it doesn't often coincide with the ambient temperature. I have never diagnosed illness based on the temperature or moisture of a pet's nose!
