My cat has a cold, fever, and snuffles. What can I give him safely?

If Tikvichko truly has a fever (check by using a digital thermometer inserted about 1 centimeter in the rectum; cats are normally between 100 and 102 Fahrenheit) then he likely needs antibiotics to treat this problem. I'm not sure how it works in your country, but in the U.S. these are only obtainable with a prescription. Clavamox is typically a good choice for respiratory infections; your vet can prescribe it for you

By your description, he could have an upper respiratory infection. This would need to be confirmed by your veterinarian after a physical exam. Boo Bear may need antibiotics to clear it up. There is nothing OTC that can safely be used for cats.

Hi, I assume Daisy has cat flu. Sneezing will not cease all of a sudden it will continue on and off for a while.The important thing is that Daisy starts to eat and that her temperature is under control. Hope this helps !

Poor Lucy. It is always sad when our babies are sick and not feeling well. Sometimes an infection will start as a viral infection then develop a secondary bacterial infection. Cats normally are warmer than humans and have a normal body temperature of 100-102.5 degrees. If Lucy has a fever of over 103, I would recommend having her evaluated by a veterinarian if you have not already. If her infection is viral, she may just need some time and supportive care to make her feel better. I like taking kittens into a humid bathroom for 5-10 minutes (after you have showered) to help loosen their congestion. And make sure she keeps eating. Cats need to be able to smell their food, so you may need to feed her some smelly canned food to keep her eating. If Lucy develops yellow or green nasal discharge, is very lethargic or will not eat, I would recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian. Good luck! You can try liquid Benadryl for rhinitis but that is about the only over the counter (OTC) medication you can give a cat. There is nothing you can give for a fever. Cats are extremely sensitive to other OTC medications and you can kill her with them. How do you know she has a fever? Without taking a rectal temperature you cannot be sure. I'm so sorry to hear about what is going on with Kitty. Unfortunately, all of the medications we recommend are generally prescriptions that need to be dispensed by your family veterinarian. If your cat has an upper respiratory infection, there are some liquid options available like Clavamox or Amoxicillin. Please have Kitty seen by your vet so they can prescribe the appropriate medication.

Human drugs can cause severe side effects in cats and even death. If you can not afford the testing then ask your Vet for supportive care, things like fluids under the skin and antibiotics for a longer course. In the IS pneumonia is rate in cats. Cats more commonly are chronically infected with viral infections or if they have chronic fevers were worry about Feline Leukemia, FIV and Feline Infectious Peritonitis.
