My cat gave birth, found dead kitten. Is she still pregnant with more?

It could be that Shiver has more kittens that still need to be born, but without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. It's concerning that three have been stillborn, and I would be worried there's something wrong and she needs help giving birth. My advice is to take her into a vet immediately to be checked out. There is a possibility that she only had one kitten and this was it. Cats will eat seriously deformed or dead kittens in order to not leave traces for prey animals. This happens inside a house, too, as it is an instinct. It is a good idea to have a veterinarian give her an exam to make sure thatg there is no kitten left behind or a uterine infection. Very small or young cat having their first litter can have difficulty giving birth and sometimes a kitten cannot be born and can cause sepsis in a cat as it decays in the uterus.

Hi there and I am very sorry to hear about Cotton's kittens. I presume an xray was not taken when she was pregnant to determine the official kitten count. Yes, there may still be another kitten in there, most likely not alive, or it may be that she has an infection of her uterus. I would highly recommend to have her examined by her veterinarian as soon as you can. They can do an examine to see if they feel a fetus, determine if she has a fever or is dehydrated and ill, and take an xray if needed to see if she has a kitten (or two) in there or if her uterus is infected. If this is left untreated she may get sick very quickly, so the sooner she can be seen the better. Once again, I am very sorry about the kittens.

Poor kitty! If she is still having contractions and something seems to be protruding from her vagina, I would be concerned that she may still have one or more kittens inside her. This is potentially a life-threatening problem, so I would recommend taking her to the vet right away for an exam. He/she can take x-rays to see if there are still more kittens inside her. If so, she will likely need an emergency c-section to get them out.

The only way to know if she has any other kittens inside her is to take her to a vet and have an x-ray done. I strongly suggest you do this. If there is a dead kitten (or more than one) still inside her she will get extremely sick and die. Please get her to a vet as soon as possible.

A vet visit is always recommended in these cases so that is my suggestion - get her to a vet for an exam. If you don't want to take her to the vet just yet then monitor her closely for any signs of illness (not eating/drinking, lethargy, vomiting, hiding, etc). If you notice anything abnormal, then get her to the vet ASAP. She may have only had one kitten - there may not be any others. Please consider having her spayed as soon as you can. If they have stillborns they will usually continue to do so.
