Can an 8-week-old kitten drink cat milk? How often is it safe?

A kitten at 8 weeks old is able to eat dry food just fine. If you want to put a little water or tuna juice on it to soften it you can but it is likely not necessary. If she will not eat the dry food you can always give her canned food. DO NOT mix it with cow's milk - that milk is not good for cats. If you must use milk you need to use kitten milk replacer. It would ideally best to give good quality cat food for kittens as the diet would be more balanced and nutritionally complete to match all his needs. Many cats are lactose intolerant and can develop vomiting and diarrhea as a result of ingesting dairy products. There is no need to give Bent any cow's milk and if anything, it can cause more harm than good. If he is under 4-5 weeks of age, he should be receiving kitten formula (Esbilac is one example). Canned or moistened kibble kitten food can be introduced around 4 weeks of age.

At 8 weeks your kitten can be on a completely solid diet, and if you're feeding regular cow's milk it could be what is causing the diarrhea (cats can't handle milk.) If she doesn't drink a lot and doesn't like moistened food, you can try adding in a pet fountain or other running water source that may encourage her to play or drink a bit more.
