My 2-month-old kitten won't eat, has diarrhea, and nurses my cat.

Diarrhea in a kitten this young is definitely very concerning, as is the stoppage of nursing. The fact that the mother is separating her young is a bad sign, as this is usually what the mother will do when she senses one of the kittens is sick, or possibly contagious to the others. You may need to start bottle feeding and/or transitioning to hard food sooner than later to preserve the kitten's health. I would not let this go on for more than a few more hours, as dehydration and hypoglycemia are real concerns in an animal this young and fragile. You may also want to look into obtaining some antidiarrheal medication from your veterinarian. Hope this helps.

Given her age there are several things that cross my mind, but a common issue in these young kittens is parasites. Sometimes their parasite burden can be so high that they cannot maintain adequate glucose levels, and also can become uninterested in food and sometimes will begin vomiting. I would recommend deworming her. Also, it would be important to rule out signs of infection and/or sepsis. I think she needs to be seen by a veterinarian right away. Such a young and small animal can deteriorate quickly even with easy to resolve issues like gastrointestinal parasites.

I would recommend taking Mushy to the vet for evaluation. Kittens don't typically start eating solid food until 6 weeks, 5 weeks at the earliest. Then they should be eating a balanced kitten food. Canned tuna doesn't have all of the nutrients her body needs to grow properly. Vomiting and diarrhea in a kitten can be very serious and they can get dehydrated very quickly. Common causes include dietary intolerance, obstruction, viral or bacterial infection, intestinal parasites, etc.

Kitties can't digest human milk well. This is likely what gave your little one diarrhea. I would switch back to the KMR and start mixing in small amounts of wet kitty starter formula food. You can also mix in 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) to help harden her stools and continue feeding her kitten only food. If he stools are not getting better after 24-48 hrs then its best to take her to your vet for a short course of antibiotics to get her bacterial flora back to normal. She's adorable! I would be a little more concerned that she might have intestinal parasites or another disease causing her diarrhea. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian if you have not taken her in already. They can check a stool sample and she may be old enough for vaccines at this point. If there does not seem to be a medical issue you could try seeing how she does on just wet or just dry food - kittens sometimes do better on one vs. the other.

You can still train her to eat twice a day regardless of the diarrhea. She may not want to eat as much because of the diarrhea right now. I wouldn't press the issue. Just get her to the vet as soon as you can. The most common cause of diarrhea in kittens is internal parasites so she likely needs to be dewormed to get that diarrhea to resolve. Hope this helps. A kitten that is 2 months old does not need milk or milk replacer any longer. If she is undeeweight or needs additional calories, try canned kitten food instead of milk. Her diet at 8 weeks should be dry kitten food +/- canned kitten food and clean fresh water to drink. This will help regulate her bowel movements and give her adequate nutrition. If the foods are good quality, vitamins are not needed.
