Is my 4-month-old male kitten too young to get a cat pregnant?

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | 1 year and 3 months old

I have a male kitten in the age of 4 months and he started trying to mate with my old cats, is this an age which he can become a father or all of his attempts is useless?

This is typically on the young side but not impossible. Generally they reach sexual maturity around 6-8 months but some have been reported as early as 4-5 months. It is best to keep them separate or have him fixed to prevent any unwanted kittens

As soon as you’re male cat is sexually mature (4-6 months old), they can and WILL mate and have kittens. I’d recommend getting your female cat spayed as soon as possible to avoid this. (She is already old enough to have kittens.) I suppose you could wait until your male cat is a little older and get him neutered while keeping them totally separated- but that seems the riskier way to go to me. Most kittens will not hit puberty until 6 months of age but it can rarely happen as young as 4 months of age.
I recommend to call your veterinarian and let them know what is happening. They may go ahead and agree to get both kittens sterilized since the male is showing signs of puberty. You may also look for a vet who will sterilize them a little earlier.
Unless the female goes into heat, she can’t get pregnant.

Can my 4-month-old kitten get pregnant outside before her first heat?

It's possible for her to have her first heat cycle anytime after four months of age, but it normally occurs around six months. She would have to be in heat in order to accept the male and get pregnant, but you should be aware that this can happen anytime now. It's important to have her spayed prior to her coming into heat, because the procedure is more risky when they are in heat. They also tend to fight with other cats when they are in heat, which can increase their chances of getting serious infections and contracting FIV and/or FeLV. These diseases are vaccine-preventable, so it's important to also ask your vet about this vaccine if she will continue to have contact with feral cats. I hope that helps and all is well with Bella.

Can unneutered 6-month-old boy and girl kittens get pregnant?

Unfortunately, brothers and sisters will mate and the offspring may have health problems, so I would strongly recommend having them desexed as soon as possible. Female cats come into season based on the number of daylight hours, so your kitten may come into season shortly (often January to February). When is my female kitten old enough to get pregnant and breed?

Although cats can get pregnant at seven months old or so I prefer to wait to breed them until they are mature at one year old. That way they are bigger and usually better mothers than if they give birth when they are still kittens themselves. If you want to have a certain breed of kittens then you can find purebred breeders who have male breeding cats. Unfortunately there are already too many kittens that don't find homes so if you want to raise kittens check with your local shelter or rescue group as they often have pregnant cats that need fostering.
