Why is my parrot's eye infected, blind, and having trouble blinking?

Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | 0.44 lbs

Due to an infection in my parrot's eye it's iris is not visible anymore, he has trouble in blinking his eye. We consulted a vet and were giving him medication but it is having nk effect oh his condition. The visibility from his right eye is totally gone. Please help me.

Thanks for reaching out about Lucas. Without more information on the eye condition or the mediation used, a visit with an avian veterinarian is recommended. Intra-ocular cataracts are not uncommon, where the lens changes opacity. There is no treatment for this short of surgery, but usually does not affect blinking. Trouble blinking could be due to glaucoma, where the pressure inside the eye increases. Topical medication might be able to control this, but eye removal might be indicated.
